The brief for this outdated, dark brick and timber home was to design a light filled kitchen and living areas that was family friendly and inviting. The main focus was on the function between the interior spaces and to provide smart storage solutions for the small kitchen. A white colour palette was used to reflect the light in conjunction with natural timbers creating an atmosphere of warmth and comfort. Extra storage was created by adding deep floor to ceiling kitchen cupboards, a space saving pull-out pantry with internal lighting and a functional kitchen island with extra seating space. Walls were cut back to optimise the interior flow and create visual interest, carpets were removed and existing pine floorboards lime washed and polished, creating a seamless transition between the open planned areas. The exterior of the house was updated to create a more contemporary facade and enhance the connection to the garden.
